Texte | Abstract: Symposium description:
In this panel, we explore the potentials and challenges of qualitative, especially reconstructive methods for analyzing apps and interactions in the context of apps. Rapid digital transformations make it necessary to reconsider and clarify methodological and theoretical assumptions. We do so by bringing them together with empirical insights from various research projects: mood tracking, dating apps, peer exchange and other (social) media. In the respective contributions, attention is paid to which dimensions of apps or app-based interactions can be examined with which methods and which results. We understand apps as carriers of meaning, which is based on the app architecture, functionality and content in the form of texts and images. We are also interested in the interaction with and through apps and their functions in everyday life as an object of investigation.
